Nice sprites. Still a bit small imo,
While I understand that he's supposed to be the size of Mario's hat, I personally think its more true to the SS style if you maybe made him larger. You can see a similar direction being taken in a bunch of the MLSS enemies, where more detailed enemies like the blooper are made larger in order to show the detail rather than keeping them to their correct size.
Either way, good sprites. But my personal critique is you should perhaps make him larger and just make him sprites of shrinking when he connects and disconnects to Mario. (Transition sprites of sort).
