I can't tell if you manipulated it or not. I'm hoping you didn't because that is an amazing shot. I love pictures of trees, and this is just amazing.
The shadows blow me away.

I'm just getting into Photo Art, so I'm curious, is this simply black and white, or did you edit it as well? If so, how did you make the blurred effect?

Pixydream In reply to stoneheartraven [2006-10-27 00:02:15 +0000 UTC]
It was originally shot in digital, with a Canon 350D. First I adapted the shot to a square in PS, then the B&W conversion, levels, curves, vignette and sharpen were made in Adobe Lightroom. At last go back to PS for sizing and sharpen in order to post on dA, then Image Ready for jpeg compression..
There's no blur in this pic, what did you mean by "blurred effect"???

It seems slightly blurred, like a double image.

Ok. perhaps due to sharpen and jpeg compression? I don't know..

Perhaps. I found it interesting. You see, all these concepts and words are new to me. I am but a babe in the world of photo manipulation, getting along by feeling my way so far.

Thank you, I appreciate it. If you happen to want to, my photomanips are up now. There's not many, but they're my baby-steps. I favor the Alfred Hitchcock school of photography in them it seems. Which, is fine by me, ole Alfie kicked ass. Anyways, thank you again. Hava good one.

Ok Steven, I've just seen your manips. What could I say, it's the beginning, you have to try a lot, work, etc.. Imho there's no ready made solution in the matter. No book which can give you THE solution to realize a good pic. A good pic doesn't exist. Who could say "I know the very truth in beauty"?
Nobody except you could do the stuff, so Steven, go on! Try to download a better soft than Paint, and work.. I just say "Good luck, man", I know you could succed if you really want it.

Trying, trying. For now it's a bit of a small obsession. Kinda like this new little animal I've got and I'm learning what it can do. I've noticed the limitations are few in this catagory. Unfortuneatly for programs, I'm poor. Lucky I have a computer really. So, free ones work best, but it's hard to find GOOD free prog's anymore, yanno?

Nothing special.. Just a shoot with a nice subject in a great light, then B&W conversion and adaptation in a square.
