Description
Following Hong Kong's independence, the US Congress authorized the sale of its military equipment and weapons including M16 rifles, machine guns and particularly to form an armoured corps in the form of the M113 APCs. Around 100 M113s were donated to the newly formed Hong Kong Defence Force as of 1997 with most are ex US Army used, with fifteen M577 command personnel carrier with ten Medivac Vehicle, ten ARVs, and fifteen mortar carriers. The rest were an even split between APC and the TOW missile armed tank destroyer They were in service with the Hong Kong Army until they were replaced by Patria AMV series of armored vehicles.
