Somewhere in the forest, there was wailing. The anguished cries for help of a tiny lost soul.
Amidst the resting stones calling out to the wandering eyes the names of who once was, a tiny figure was crying out. Not a whisper but not a real sound either. And at the same time strong enough to catch the ear. The tiny sound echoed throughout, bouncing from rock to treetrunk, carrying it far as a fleeing hare who'd heard the distant sound of barking.
But then, two shadows came out. They gaze at each other, pale blue times four meeting up in silence. Then, as one, they approached, walking through the final resting places of so many but one. The Shadows found the tiny soul who seemed so small in the middle of this place. So loud in the frozen silence of nothingness. Without talking or exchanging thoughts, they circled the small one in a protective circle made of nightfall. The small one cries slowed down but didn't stop. The shadows didn't move or talk. They just waited patiently until their presence wasn't needed anymore.
Somewhere in the forest, there was weeping, coming from a circle of shadows.
