Description
About the MOCThe Ampera logo belongs to Raps555 which helped influence the name once this MOC was built. It started when I saw Billy Adam's MOC that utilizes the cover of a Toa Mahri Canister on Flickr and thought "Hey I have one of those." Billy's MOC was all the spark I needed. I promptly went to my MOC room's closet got out both of the garbage bags that held the containers for all my Bionicle/HF sets and fortunately for me, I found it in the first bag.
The other major influence into this MOC was "May the 4th" and more specifically, me remember that I absolutely loved the XJ-6 Airspeeder from Star Wars Episode 2:Attack Of the Clones. This speeder was a huge influence on me, I based much of the designs off of this thinking that while it's not the same speeder, its similar.
Keeping the speeder in mind, the other concept I put behind this MOC to give it more defined parameters when building it was that it is what would be considered a "luxury sports coup of the future." This is what lead to trying to give the Helios a rather luxurious interior.
The last element to come into play when shaping this MOC was functionality. Early on I found myself lacking room to implement any real functions, so I decided to omit my usual Heavy inclusion of functions and decided to focus on the aesthetic element instead. However, the seats still are adjustable. Though as cramped as the interior are for Volvexa and Vaan, the adjustable seats aren't much use since they're all the way back. This feature was mostly so I could live with myself. After three vehicle MOCs laden with functions, I couldn't not have any functional features to speak of on another one. Everything after these parameters was all about execution and it came as results of working with the parts.

Beating a dead horse by this point, the factors behind my vehicles enforce limitations on what the pilot has to do to fit. But no problem man, I'm feeling an itch to do more vehicles as well. Do you know when that interview contest for the Technic set ends?

I'm sorry I can't do that. I don't know what color impressed is. Is that like a bright green, or perhaps a deep bluish color?
Thanks.

I'd think it would be like a green if anything. Blue feels like more of a majestic color. Lighter green colors just radiate happiness & the like

This is such an awesome vehicle ! I just love the overall look of it and especially the cockpit with the seats ( cool use of those shield pieces ) and the controllers. And I think this I the first time when I see a Mahri set box being used as a frame for a MOC which is why I so love it ( I may try this idea also ).

Thanks Random. The shield just kinda naturally lent themselves to being the seat backs. Once I knew I was going to use Tan for the interior that showed itself right away. Sometimes when I'm MOCing I get these little moments where I say "that is so happening" and then I just figure out how to make it work. It was the bottom of the seats that was a bit of a challenge. I had to find a way to make two seats with what I had on hand, and still make em look comfortable and "luxurious." Like I said in the description, I saw someone else use it and was inspired to dig mine out and use it to. So I just did what everyone else is saying they want to do. Cept I actually did it. Seems like the kind of thing people say they want to do, then don't. :/

No problem. Yeah, I sometimes also have this sort of moments when I'm working on a MOC. And you did a good job on that one I'm telling you this. And yes I also saw that, haven't checked it yet do, and yeah that's something also that I don't really understand, if you say that you're gonna make something and even promise, but you will eventually not do it and abandon the idea, then better don't do that in the first place !

Eh, people tell themselves they'll do things then don't all the time. I think that's human nature. We always want to do more than we're willing or motivated to do. I just wanna see if anyone actually acts on it this time.

Guess you're right, we always want to do more, but then we give up due to either losing interesting or lack of motivation. Guess is something we can't change. And I really wonder if there are people that tend to keep these promises.

Oh I'm sure there's people out there who do, but the majority of us make empty promises or have wishes to do things but don't actually motivate ourselves to do it.

Nicely packaged. And to fit two seats in there is pretty impressive to me.
The front looks a little jagged, as if the engine was exposed and the hood came off.

Nope, its meant to have an exposed engine, kinda like an old hot rod. Body, open air engine, front grille with headlights and so on.

Groucho glasses are the classic "gag" glasses with the attached nose and mustache. They are named as such because they resemble Groucho Marx.

Oh wow, talk about mixing System and Bionicle parts. This actually looks really good, especially with the usage of the Toa Mahri containers. Also, using the Av-Matoran Jet Packs and those Zamor Sphere things as the engine works out pretty nicely. I'd imagine that this peculiar vehicle would be available in multiple colors?
I would have something to say about the two Matoran, but the image is so small that I can barely seem them.

Thanks Celon. Its all the smooth textures I think. The canister is pretty smooth and so is system parts so it was a good match I think. Then there's also some Bionicley looking bits to so the cover was a great "in between." And its funny you say that. yeah this MOC could hypothetically come in different colors. www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.… this is the only part that would prevent each Mahri canister color from being replicated exactly. That and the HF shell on the front. But with a little creative rearranging of colors, yeah this MOC could come in multiple color arrangements.
You can see the individual photos on Flickr. www.flickr.com/photos/thirdeye…

Alright, now that I got a view of the Matoran, I can give my opinions about them.
Vaan, the Le-Matoran has a pretty interesting design, especially with the mix of Hero Factory and Bionicle parts giving him a more futuristic appearance. He doesn't have that many greebles, but then again, he doesn't really need them. However, I am bothered by a few things. One would be the pieces you used for the upper legs. The "Cragger Green" (As I'm going to call it) just sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the design. Another would be the way you attached the arms. I was never a real big fan of using the 2004-style Matoran limbs as shoulder joints, and that's because it just looks awkward posing something with them. Otherwise, an excellent little design that I should take into consideration. Oh, don't think I didn't notice the broken piece that Vaan has on the back of his foot.
Volvexa's design is a bit more problematic. She has a fair number of greebles on her, but at a cost of jumbling her color scheme with random grays. The little Bohrok eyes on the sides of her body also kinda bother me, considering that they appear to hinder articulation. The legs are also fairly odd, as while the upper legs have a comically large amount of armor on them, the lower legs have an unpreventable gap in them, as well as having a weird joint piece for the ankle. Granted, there're some things that you did that are pretty cool, in particular, that elbow joint.
As a side note, both of these MOCs look like they have a hunch-backed look, but that's only because of the neck joint. I'm glad I had a chance to look over these guys, because I might consider some of these designs for myself.
