Description
Merry Christmas everyone! (Or should I say "Happy Hearth's Warming everypony"?), and have a toast to those still on the road.Inspired by "Days Gone By (Auld Lang Syne)" in the album "It's a Pony Kind of Christmas".
Art self critique: (1) The foreground looks like a cliff... but I didn't notice until I've flattened the value sketch. (2) The overall image lacks depth, most likely due to limited aerial perspective.

This is gorgeous. You did a beautiful job on the amazing scenery, especially the perspective to capture the vastness of it all. Gorgeous work on the landscape and wondrous sky. The scenery is quite beautiful, with the sweet town nestled among the mountains. Though we can't see close-up it feels like Trixie would be tired after all that traveling and probably relieved to see the dwellings in the distance. I love the peaceful and awe-inspiring feeling of it all, even if tinged with a touch of loneliness. Fantastic work.

Politely disagree with both your self critiques.
When I first saw your painting, I saw the foreground as a natural gentle slop, like the kind often seen with dirt roads. That's thanks to the second half of the road stretching into the distance.
As for said distance, the town, mountains, and aurora give a sense of distance aaand VASTNESS. The aurora and mountains combine to make the town (Ponyville?) seem tiny and far away.
This is a good piece, you should be proud of it.
(Also, it wouldn't hurt to put a YouTube link to the song in the description)

Glad you liked it! Though as for putting the link to Spectra's song, I don't think our works are related in any way besides this one being used as a coverart, so perhaps not?

I absolutely love this, sky is so beautiful! Would I be able to use this for a music video and album artwork?

Not a problem, provided you do not profit from said music video and album. (Sorry for that condition, I'm just afraid of getting into trouble)

That's alright, I understand, but can I just clarify the extent of "profiting" from it? I would normally monetise my videos on YouTube, and put the songs on Bandcamp, where they will be FREE to download but people can donate if they wish. Would you be okay with either of these or would you prefer if I did neither of them?

I love the atmosphere! Sort of lonely, melancholy, but magical and contrasted with the warm promise of the town ahead!

Northern lights? Trixie is from the far north of Equestria? Oh of course: Trixie is a member of Santa Hoove's family.

About the roads... We still haven't got any snow, so they will be safer.
