Description
After the commercial failure of the MBAR .45-70 there was an attempt to rebrand the weapon as a marksman rifle. Modification's included a longer barrel, adjustments to the bolt and ejection mechanism to allow for smoother semi-auto firing and a new 20 round magazine. The weapon was initially popular among big game hunters were the .45-70 govt. cartridge excelled tackling large fauna such as moose and elk. Unfortunately the round's poor penetration versus modern body armor and sub optimal ballistics at ranges beyond 250 yards meant the MBAR once again failed at impressing the military crowd. Even so it was markedly more successful than its predecessor and would go on to accrue something of a cult following with professional hunters.
