It's astounding how people have misinterpreted the phrase: "Original Character".
Making a character based upon a popular franchise (AKA Sonic, Kirby, MLP, FNAF) does not make it an Original Character, that was blown out the water ever since they decided to use a popular characters likeness.
The word those people are looking for is "Fan Character" and to this day it surprises me that people get the two mixed up.

Maybe it has something to do with how the culture turned out, but using the word "OC" can be very misleading, because often there's barely anything original with the art.

Making an Original Character doesn't always have to be purely by your own mind, as it is totally fine to take inspirations from other artists, but do everyone a favor and keep it to a minimum, otherwise you'll want to change the title to: "Fan Character".
