Description
The platyfox (vulpes ornithorhynchus) is a rather peculiar animal that lives in the forests of northern Europe, where it spends the days hidden in it's extensive underground lairs. Only after the sun has set they will come to the surface to scare camping teenagers with their bizarre appearance and their threatening roars.
It is often mistaken for other animals, leading to reports of people claiming they have been attacked by giant ducks.

In Scandinavian folklore they are known as Näbbdjurräv. They are said to be intelligent, mischievous creatures that like to play tricks on humans but also help those who are lost to find their way back.
A popular nursery rhyme tells the story of an old widow who lives alone in a cabin in the wood. Every night she would sing a lovely melody and the Näbbdjuräv would come to listen to her from behind the trees. When one night bandits come to her house, she sings a different song and the Näbbdjuräv, knowing that something is wrong, rush to her cabin to rescue her. So it is said that if you are in the forest and you need their help, just sing the song and they will come.
