Description Practicality.

I could shower him in flower petals until he laughed in delight.
I could grow him a bed of the softest grass to sleep upon.
I could bring him bowlfuls of the sweetest nectar to drink.
That is what people expect from a nature-mage in love.
But it’s not practical.

What he needs is someone strong to protect him from the dangers of the wood.
What he needs is someone to force him to drink the last of the water.
What he needs is someone to bring him nourishing vegetables to eat.
That is my role in this fool’s errand of a journey.
It’s simply being practical.

So if I encourage the trees to give him extra shade, it isn’t love.
So if I grow moss beneath his feet so the stones hurt him not, it isn’t love.
So if I bring him the ripest and biggest fruit, it isn’t love.
That’s just being kind, no matter what anyone implies.
I’m just being practical.
