Hi Friends: My name's Paul and I've been cowriting with JT www.deviantart.com/j-t-baker for awhile now. He graciously offered me the opportunity to bring the Robbie Cassale story over to my DA to grow my following and I happily oblige. I would anticipate we will continue to cooperate on many of our characters, but I'm excited to see where we'll take this character.
Robbie is an 18 year old former Marine who sustained catastrophic injuries in combat, leaving only his human brain and some cardiac function intact. When he is activated he will be 95% cybernetic. Rob's "survival" (if we call it that) was so tenuous, his mother was told she would be donating his brain to science, while sending the rest of his remains to a funeral home. Rob's "memory" of his mother's abandonment is mostly a delirium where he somehow recalls their decision to remove traditional life support.
Where I start my part of the story is at the tail end of this post, but with the above noted addendums.

Cole Swinburne, a 21 year-old Marine, is home on leave, sitting in the living room playing xbox with his dad Evan. Evan's 49, a local police officer, and also the father to Cyborg Andy.
Evan interrupts the game to pick up what seems like an urgent phone call. "Hello Dr. Kemp, is everything alright" .... wawawaohowa Peanuts phone noises ... "Andy's not here right now, he's out swimming with Mason, but I can get him if it's urgent. What's this about exactly?"
Cole starts to be able to overhear Dr. Kemp on the other end as Evan paces the room ... "Well, we have a new cybernetic named Robert. He's 18 like Andy, and we planned on having them meet in due time, but Robbie is having trouble activating, we can tell he's very sad before we wake him. Seeing as your son is the only other one nearby to ever experience this, we thought he might be able to help?". "Okay, Andy won't like having his day messed up, but we'll get there as soon as we can." Evan replies and hangs up the call.
"I'm sorry Cole I have to go pick up Andy, we have to go to the institute" Evan says. "I heard" ... "Probably more than I should've ... Did he say Robbie?" Cole asks . "Yes he did, I don't know if HIPPAA applies to cyborgs, but yes" Evan responds. Cole gets a cross look on his face "Dad... that's Robbie Cassale. He's dead. He was in my unit. I was at his funeral and carried his casket 8 months ago _____ How?" Cole is fairly distraught at this point.
"I don't know son, but if we can help him, it, whatever, I know Bugs will want to." Evan responds. "I just know one thing" Cole starts "I hope to God he doesn't remember any of what happened to him. That's probably why he's having trouble activating. I sure as Hell wouldn't want to come back from that." Cole pauses and then starts to shed a tear "Dad, that was our bomb. He .. he was the only one in that Humvee that could even be ID'd other than by their dogtags" Both go silent for a few moments. Evan pulls Cole into a hug:
"Well son" Evan says softly "If anyone can help, and knows what can make Robbie again, it's us" "Thanks Dad" Cole replies. "I don't know if Dr. Kemp wants you there, but I want you there and I know Bugs will too, so grab your ID and meet me in the car"
Sorry ... I'm a wall of text writer who believes in gory details for realism even in slightly fantastical tales. To J-T's watchers, I hope you make it over here to continue following along. Peace.
