This song fits Doris so well! Like she'll never admit it but she still misses Rodney because she loves him still. Also I take the "her" that they refer to in the song as what Doris imagines what she would be like to still keep Rodney around and not another girl. Him leaving her really affected her since she honestly has trouble trying to find someone who likes her in a romantic way, she kinda has a habit of accidentally scaring them off.
