This Saturday, the Watch City Steampunk Festival returns to the home city of PaWS, Waltham, MA! Along with other fellow fursuiters coming to Waltham Common, we'll be kickin' it old school, Victorian style, at New England's largest outdoor steampunk event, just like in previous years, so you'll know what to expect. Did I mention they'll have a brass animatronic triceratops there?

In two months, hopefully, I'll get able to make it to Pittsburgh for the legendary Anthrocon. Since it's launch in 1997 as Albany Anthrocon in Albany, NY, Anthrocon has grown to be one of the biggest fur cons in the world. It's been taking place in its current home in Pittsburgh since 2006, and has become a staple in the Steel City, even being listed as one of the biggest must-experiences in Pittsburgh. This was a personal bucket-list task when I first learned about AC, and said task would be accomplished in 2011, being more than just another thing to do before I die, but also how being more involved in the furry community has impacted my life. The magic at Anthrocon never disappoints, and I know for sure it won't disappoint this year as well. I really hope to make it this time.

Speaking of Albany, New York, Eufuria will be having its sophomore convention at Albany, NY's Albany Capitol Center on Saturday, July 20th. As already mentioned, Anthrocon started out in Albany, New York in 1997. It was in New York's state capital in its first 2 years before moving to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania for their 1999 and 2000 conventions, and then to Philadelphia from 2001 to 2005, before moving to its current, and possibly permanent, home in Pittsburgh in 2006. Since the conclusion of Albany Anthrocon in 1998, there have been no record of furry conventions in Upstate New york since....that is, until last year in 2023, when Eufuria took off in Troy, NY. Eufuria was Upstate New York's first fur con in 25 years, and will be Albany proper's first fur con in 26 years when it takes place at the Albany Capitol Center this July. It's a small, one-day con, but it will be a special con when it happens this summer in the city known for its Plaza with futurist architecture, the NLL's Albany Firewolves (I wanna meet "Alphie"!), and according to The Simpsons, "Steamed Hams".

The Watch City Steampunk Festival's not the only event happening in the home city of PaWS. PopCult Anime Con returns to Waltham's Westin Hotel in August. This mini-Anime Boston began in Framingham, MA back in 2016, and moved to Waltham in 2022. We happily welcome PCAC back to Waltham for their third year here and look forward to seeing our fellow con attendees again!
