so Ive been working on a new species i call chilli sprites or chittis (yes i know chili is spelt with 1 l these are meant to be spelt with 2)

they are cute little critters that consume souls
I havent written everything about them yet and some things are a wip but you can see some of my concepts here: sta.sh/2pjze4w8mdb?edit=1
they have different ranks/types as well, these are the most common, pips/betas and alphas are still a wip but you can see their basic ideas above ;v;
they get the name chilli sprites for multiple reasons, first of all their head and tail shapes resemble chilies, also because of their toxin being like a super hot chili

these guys have a poisonous toxin in their body, they use this toxin for hunting and as a defense mechanism
chilli sprites have no natural predators, this is because if they were to be eaten the toxin in their body is extremely poisonous and would almost instantly kill their consumer
their toxin at fist BURNS like eating the hottest chili in existence, it makes their mouth and eyes water uncontrollably and cases them to vomit as well, it basically causes a lot of pain to the consumer and they either kill themselves from the pain or hold out and die of the poison
its definitely not the best way to go, so most creatures because of this stay away from these little cuties
The toxin is mostly found in their horns and tails but amounts flow throughout the body, because of this their horns and tails are usually brightly coloured to warn other creatures that theyre poisonous
their bodies are commonly brightly coloured as well but they can be found in any colours even dull ones as long as the horns and tails are at least a bit bright

chilli sprites can also spit their toxin, the main use for this is for hunting although if needed can be for self defense
when huntin a chilli sprite will spit their toxin onto their preys food source (usually plants for herbivores) and they wait until the toxin is consumed, while the animal is dying the chilli sprites suck out the animals soul. The soul is sucked into a spot in their neck and is stored there.
1 soul will keep an average spritling going for a good month or more, for a pip 1 soul will last them a good 3 months+
chilli sprites are usually not greedy and only take what they need
the body left behind is left for scavenger/predator species (id like to imagine in their world there would be quite a few scavenger species)
The soul when absorbed into the neck cannot be seen from the outside, although sometimes when a chilli sprite has a freshly taken soul, you can see their neck bulge and move around as if the soul is moving on the inside.

Chilli spries are not fluffy creatures, their body is more of a smooth texture, their horns and tails also being smooth and glossy
if a chilli sprite were to ever be fluffy it would be very rare indeed

chilli sprites always are found with big ears, and they always have horns and a tail
their ears horns and tails can come in a variety of shapes and sizes but their tails are usually chili shaped or imp tails with a spade (or other shape) at the end
the imp tails can be found with other shapes like stars etc but its more uncommon
their horns usually come in pairs, unicorns or 3+ horns are rare
small ears are rare as well
their heads default shape is like above, long and slightly bent, but their face can be found shorter or broader as long as there is a bend and slightly resembles a chili
their default eyes look grumpy but they can look happy/sad whatever ;v;
tusks/fangs can also be seen sometimes but uncommon
common patterns are stripes and spots, although again any patterns can be found on these guys

now onto the adopts

i was having fun drawing these and wanted to make a trial batch for sale ;v;

i was experimenting with traits
the full traits guide hasnt been fully figured out yet so some of these may be rare later on aha
probably the things most likely to be rare are the flopped ears and pronged horns maybe ;v;
