Description Edit: August 8

Wow so I was pretty suprised to see this painting had been put of as the daily deviaton, wich is really quite an honor and I'm happy people seem to like it. It's strange because I've never thought it's one of my better peices on this site. I like the foreground and some of the textures but I've always hated the background as I had to finish it quite quickly. It's always irked me that you cansee the grey pencil planning lines.

A lot of people have compared it to various Sqare rpgs, wich it's pretty clear I have been infuenced by them, having been something of a fan since the first Final Fantasy. (Although I hacven't played FF X yet and amnow curious to do so) I don't remember anyone pointing it out, but one of the more consious things I do, is put in the traditional whitemage red and white triangle pattern into just about any painting I can fit it in, I just like it.

Also some people wanted to know the techniques I used to paint this so I guess I'll go into that for those who are interested.

Basically, the background and foreground started off the same with a pencil planned drawing and then some watercolour washes. Now although I say watercolour, because that's essentially what it is, I use coloured acrylic inks watered down to the consistency of watercolour most of the time. I find it separates less if left for a while and is permanent once it dries wich is good because I work in layers.

After that the building was painting in it's basic colours with guache. I then drew some lines overtop of it, some of them with the permanent acrylic ink and some with a watersoluble ink. Then I sprayed it with water from a spray bottle. This mottled the surface of the guache breaking it and some of the lines up and creating some fun textuires.

Most of the plants were created by putting green inks in a spray ottle and spraying it all over the place, then using brushes or pen and ink to sharpen them up and look a little more like plants.

So there you have it. Thanks again to everyone who commented and enjoyed seeing my work.

Thanks. This is kind of old and there's actually a fair bit I'm not happy with. Namely the background... the grey of the pencil I used underneat really grates on my nerves and I wish I hadn't rushed it as much. I really like the foreground though.

i love your style and the colors you chose. it kind of reminds me of a cross between a show i watched when i was little on nickelodeon called "maya the bee" and also "the little mermaid". it's so nice. and it's going in my favourites.
