Bishounen is Japanese for "Beautiful young man". It's a term for the "pretty boy" that makes the women swoon and become rabid fangirls. Bishounen characters are mostly found in shoujo, as they are meant to attract young girls, but they can turn out in any other setting. For example, Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin can be considered a Bishounen.
