Our Earth needs help.

Of course they keep buying them; there a bizarre dysfunction in the industrial mindset that simultaneously claims that we are each too unimportant to have any impact, but too important to be denied anything we want.
On the bright side, in this respect, the fact that oil, NG, and coal are all rapidly approaching their peak is a good thing - the way prices are going to escalate on fuel will at least encourage people to use less of them, as they get priced out of the market.
The downside is that it'll take industrial civilization /with/ it as it unfolds over the next few centuries, but we're apparently on course for that anyhow, what with all the other ecological disasters that have been soundly and willfully ignored over the last three or four decades.
