Description
Sorry so long between uploads, sick and slow. Here we cover attaching the guard and handle to the blade itself, making the project "whole." We'll go over fiberglassing the blade, building the guard box, attaching the grip, making and shaping the details that make up the collar and pommel, and finally a little bit about the leather wrapping the grip.If this isn't very clear or helpful, or you just have questions, please let me know I'll do everything I can to help out. One of the hardest things I found with this series of steps was sealing the blade's foam safely from resin (and paint, technically), as well as making those tiny little bolt heads! There are a lot of other tutorials and methods regarding sealing your foam safely from resin, so please experiment and research further.
As for those little bolts, keep your eyes peeled constantly for anything about the size of a penny or nickle that can be turned into a half-sphere, a hemisphere, and either molded so you can get ten of them or uh... find ten in the first place. Although some of the screenshots appear to show ten flat disks, at extreme angles, the bump-mapping and parallax mapping shows clearly that they're just conserving polygons. The bolt heads are indeed hemispheres, they just look flat from extreme angles because of how game models are built nowadays. But luck be with us trying to find something to duplicate that cheaply!
Take care everybody, be safe, and farewell!

If I remember correctly, someone used those plastic googly eyes you can get at craft stores to make bolt-heads for a project. Those would work, they're not as domed as a half-sphere, but they're a nice compromise between a flat disc and the former. Plus, they're really cheap! You can purchase a ton of half-inch diameter googly eyes at craft stores for a few dollars, spray paint them and/or take the eye parts out from behind. Keep your "eyes" open for anything you can use! This would save you a lot of money over purchasing a bunch of pvc caps and cutting them, or casting duplicates, bla bla bla. Best of luck guys, I'll try to keep remembering short-cuts to help you out.
