Description

"You must never go there" is the first thing the mothers tell their fawns, when the questions arise. And they always do. The worlds end, the edge of the world, the fall. Deer know this place by many names, but the questions remain the same. "What is it? Where is it?"

They say that in times of old a goddess, who loved the deers, created the land we now walk on. But the sky that once was the only thing in existence was not pleased by the land floating within his rightful domain. It is said, that one day the sky will take back what is rightfully his, and will once again be clear and empty. Pure in its existence, in its perfection. But what is perfection? Without life, without warmth? A cold, lifeless space, devoid of anything that could give it meaning.

At worlds end, the land stops. It ends and makes place for the endless sky spanning above and beneath. Slowly the sky is eating away at the land, time and time again the rock breaks, tumbling down into the endless abyss. It’s dangerous to walk on unstable ground and one wrong step at worlds end can lead to disaster. It’s said that the screams of the deer that fell down can still be heard, faintly echoing between the floating rocks.

“You must never go there. The deer who went there died, the sky consumed them. No one ever truly escapes. The sky takes part of you, a part of you always falls down, and what returns is clear and empty. The clear blue sky is not as beautiful and innocent as he seems.”
