Well, actually Asriel points out that Toriel's idea would have also caused a genocide (what with humans not exactly being too fond of goatmen coming from the underground carrying pitchforks taking souls....) Also, we've only confirmed ONE of them was a kid. The rest seemed to be late teens or adults. Some of which were apparently really murderous humans given the descriptions and monster dust on their gear.
