Description
I had several inspirations for this illustration.I wanted to make a piece partly inspired by the old 1950s pin up art and the warplane nose art of the 1940's. Im also a big fan of retro futuristic genre (Blade Runner,Dark City, Brazil) and anything that has an old Flash Gordon style.
As for the girl in the image, she was partly inspired by the old 1960's -70's sci-fi/horror film actress Caroline Munro.

this is ace, seems you like only cool things and have an excellent knowledge of your genre all round. i especially likethe fluffy collar on this particular one, but they're all good, even the allegedly 'sloppy' ones in your gallery! and it does look a bit like caroline munro as well!

Really impressive and clean style, lol i'm so glad i found your work the whole retro capture looks good and works well. I'm starting to miss it in sci fi films now,. Congratulations on the artist of the month as well and could i ask. do you just use standard brushes on photoshop. Hmm anyway i'm going to look through your gallery some more now and watch.

Cabul Noir, I use the natural brushes in PS (just load them from your PS brush files) . I usually mess around with the settings until I get the effect I'm happy with.

ah yeah thanks i have to be careful with those brushes they make my computer freeze, i'll mess around with them next time i do a refined piece, see if i can come up with a style i'm happier with.

Hrm, I like this, but you know what troubles me? I think her breasts are too high up her chest. They're practically growing out of her shoulders ! And, if the shirt is pushing them up, their shape is wrong.

Actually, I was going for a slightly low angle view of the girl which would slightly forshorten certain features and make them look higher than they really are. Also, since the viewer is so close to the girl that would also add more distortion.
If you look at her nose. You can see the underside of it , and it also looks higher on her face because of the low angle.

i couldn't get an exact angle but you get the idea.
the lower the view, the hgiher the breasts will look and the higher the view ,the lower they'ell look

I see what you're saying, but it looks to me, still, that her head is just somewhat tipped back but the rest of the view is pretty much from waist-height at the lowest. Perhaps with a more verticle layout that took in more of her lower body, it would work better for me.
