Description
Inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea...I took some liberties with the squid and made it more of a mutant creature.Related content

Really beautiful - the Nautilus has always been one of my favourite notions. The lighting in this piece is magic.

Really stimulates the imagination. 20,000 Leagues or not, I could probably still come up with a story to go with this picture. You've earned yourself one of these: Wear it with pride and don't forget to polish it at least once a month.

Awesome! The insperation that you got from the book really did make the picture very powerful in my opinion. I love how you were able to transfer the squid into a mutant here; it really looks scary, yet, very cool looking here. I like the designs that it has like the body like thorns that on it's head-foot. I'm loving the tentecules that you did that's about to wrap around the submarine ship. The light reflection is excellent here and I also like how well you were able to make the picture like it is in murky water. Excellent, excellent details on everything, I'm reallly impressed with how you did this picture. ^^

This picture resonates that calm before the storm, a sort of uneasy tranquility, that feeling you get when in the middle of the night when all his pitch and calm. I love it. 20,000 is one of my favorite books and one of my favorite movies, possibly one of the first films that made me want to make movies! I actually think your manipulation of the squid is very appropriate, as the creatures in the book are actual giant squid sized, but the creature in the film was titanic by comparison. Here the size ratio works to ecstatic effect, giving it that sense of overwhelming ferocitiy! I like that you used the gothic Nautilus from the fifties movie, the best design. Excellent work, and congratulations on the Daily Deviation! Well earned.
Do you think there'll be a print of this? Seeing as that design of the Nautilus is somewhat copyrighted that could be a problem, but on the whole 20,000 itself is public domain....
