Description
Scalded
Elysium Unicorn Color
Represented by the genomic letter Sc
A gene that darkens the base coat of horses in a very specific way! This gene causes only the legs and head of a horse to darken a few shades. Like Bengal, Scalding can change in effectiveness due to it's zygousity. Heterozygous scalding keeps the legs and head light enough that it's clearly still a similar color as the base coat. Homozygous scalding can leave the legs and head nearly pitch black!
Should a horse with a bay base coat inherit scalding, they become 'scald carriers' as their legs and face at usually already darkened.
