When will I get tired of drawing them? Who knows? But I'm going to keep on riding this train until it stops.

This piece started with just a simple pose I had in mind of Mojo kissing Blossom on the head, but as I continued to work on it it became something even more intimate. I feel like Blossom probably faces a lot of pressure being the leader of the Powerpuff Girls. She often has to act as the voice of reason for her sisters, and to be a proper commander she has to constantly think two steps ahead. While Blossom values her role as the leader, I'm sure it gets overwhelming at times, especially as an adult. I don't have a particular back story behind this piece, I just wanted a scene of Mojo comforting Blossom when life as a PPG gets too stressful.

I suppose this was also influenced by my mood at the time. I've been blessed to have a very good life in my 30s. I have a loving partner, great friends and a career I enjoy. I am very happy with where my life is and where it is going, but it is not without difficulty. I work a lot of hours and wear a lot of hats. I've had to make many sacrifices to have this life. And there are going to be some significant challenges I'm going to have to face in my family life, as well as my career, in the near future. Not all of them are bad challenges, of course, but they will still be difficult. When I started drawing this, I was in the middle of a deep discussion with my husband about these things, and I wanted something to reflect my own need for comfort.

Deep down, I think my recent fixation on the Powerpuff Girls, and more specifically Blossom and Mojo Jojo is just that: A means of finding comfort in something fun, sweet and familiar that dates back to a time when my life was much simpler.
