She took a deep breath and gently blew away the fog to let the city see what had happened to it, and to get a clearer view herself. Very carefully she wrapped her finger and thumb around a building. She had heard many times that buildings this scale can't be picked up; they'll crumble if you touch them. But part of her wanted to believe that she would be the person who could be careful enough to prove the experts wrong, and actually hold an intact shrunken building in her hand.

That part of her didn't get its wish.

She withdrew her hand from the dusty mess and leaned over the city she now owned, smiling. She could be a good owner; she knew it. She didn't notice that a few stray strands of hair dangled into the city, sweeping cars off the road and upending streetlights. The collar of her shirt hung open and came dangerously close to knocking over a building. People below took shelter from the wind as her breath blew over the city.
