A small story I've been meaning to draw out.
Finally done to celebrate 1000 days of daily doodles on my doodle blog o/

It's rare...like really rare for a comic, movie, book or any media really to make me tear up.
This one did it.
I know this feeling so well. I have two really good friends who are so talented. I love their work. They have their watchers and people who come up to them,
telling them their stuff is great. While I rarely get any attention or feedback. I have a very low selfesteem thanks to that...
So thank you for that little comic. I'll make sure not to give up. (Not that I'd ever put the pen down for longer than a few days xD)

This is very true. I gave up once, stop trying, my friend had so much talent in digital art and each time I used my tablet I cried. "I can't do it, I'm not talented." I used to tell myself that, because no matter how many hours I had spent on it, they could draw something better in 30 minutes. It felt pointless, no one cared about my art anyway, so why did I even try? Each time I went back to my tablet I tried so hard to be good, deleting work that I had worked on for hours to make it better. I adore this comic, because its message is beautiful. I won't give up on my dreams of becoming an inspiring artist. I hope that one day, I have people looking up to me too.

wow I can really relate to this...I thought I was the only one to feel this way towards my idols, I guess everyone feels the same and I shouldn't really worry and stress over myself about my improvement since we all improve differently and we all learn differently.

I like drawing, and I might eventually put some of my drawings on this site, but I'm much more in touch with my writing.

Just found this and its so beautiful, so inspiring and so motivating.
For years I've always felt bogged down at the talent of younger artists and their progression at such a young age. I always felt like I wasn't getting any where and no matter how much I tried to be like them, I always fell.
I love my work now, I love being me and I love the people around me who enjoy my work and for the artists I love, they inspire me, they no longer intimidate me.

I just want to say "Thank you."
Like, really. I love art. As a kid, I'd always look at my dad's drawings or the drawings and sketches of those guys older than me. I'd always follow how they'd do it, and mimic them, but I never really had the courage to make my own stuff. Eventually, as I got older, I tried to make my own things with my own style. I thought I was on the way to becoming a really good artist like the ones I look up to, until I found a kid, a few years younger than I am, making art pieces that make mine bite the dust. I honestly lost all my motivation to draw that day. Even my friends wondered why I suddenly stopped drawing. I'd always give them short answers like "Just because..." or "Maybe later..." but I never got to it. To this day, I feel intimidated by the artists I see and look up to, because I feel I will never reach their level, but I still try. I know it's not as good as I want it, but I still try.
I try in hopes of achieving my dreams of becoming an artist.
Thanks for giving this guy, a guy who's been drawing all his life, hope that he can one day become an artist like he's always dreamed of.

I swear I cry when I read this, I've been drawing since elementary.....and like, so much talented people at very young age, so heart breaking

This made me think back to my middle school and freshman years. I loved drawing and really looked up to my grandma who, in my eyes, was and still is the most amazing artist. I knew from a young age that I wasn't going to reach her level right away, but I practiced. During my middle school years, I had grown quite the collection of drawings. The ones I was most proud of, I hung on my wall so my family started calling it the "wall of fame". During my freshman year, I made two friends who also enjoyed art. We drew together and that's when I saw that my art skills weren't as amazing as I thought. One of my friends was on my level of skill, but the other, her art was beautiful. Compared to her's, mine looked messy and ugly and, despite her saying it was good, I hated my art. I tried pushing to get to her level of skill but I couldn't get there. I looked at my art and thought that it was no longer something special. I began taking down pieces from the "wall of fame" that I had once been so proud of. I only had a few up when my little sister came into my room to proudly show off a picture she'd drawn for me. She had said that she knew it wasn't good, but she hoped it was good enough to go on the "wall of fame". Of course, I put it up for her and when she came with a new one I'd add it to the wall. We moved and the wall is no longer a thing I do, but I still have the pictures boxed away somewhere. I still look at my art sometimes and think, "Wow, this is complete crap." but it's nice to know that there is someone who looks up to you. My little sister doesn't even realize how special her admiration of my art makes me feel.
Sorry for the long comment, just wanted to share my feelings. This is a really beautiful story and it made me tear up. I'm sure I speak for everyone who said they relate when I say, thank you for making this.

But after I see this story, it give me a lottttttttt of inspiration.
