A small story I've been meaning to draw out.
Finally done to celebrate 1000 days of daily doodles on my doodle blog o/
It works best on large resolution screens lol;;;

As "inspiring" as this is, it doesn't change the fact that some people just can't be artists. I feel like I am slowly realizing this for myself. I can't even copy a simple, stylized drawing, let alone come up with something from my imagination. It's like I wasn't born with the skill to do this. Every time I feel like I am progressing, I realize just how little I really am. It takes more than just one or two people to make you feel good with what you are capable of. As much as I would like to say this is the turnaround point where I realize I can do this, I can't say that. The first half, mostly the "what is the point" part is where I have been stuck at, and I don't see myself getting past it, at least not anytime soon. I don't see any point, I know people won't like my content because it is amateurish, crude and lacking understanding of basic concepts; I don't see myself improving because I don't know how to improve (practice doesn't equal being great at something); and as time continues to pass, I want to do "art" less and less. It really is just that hard. I've never succeeded in anything before, so what makes me think I can succeed in something I have no skill or talent in? ...whatever, I'm sure no one will even read this, just me venting on some random post.

Just some advice, art is basically something jotted down on a piece of paper. If you look at modern art then all you see are splotches of colors!
So just saying, everyone can be an artist.

I think you kind of missed the whole message of this comic xD If you create, and you love doing so, then improvement is inevitable.

I want you to realise something.
You say not everyone can be artist, right?
No matter what you make, it's art. You make a Color palate, it's art, you draw a circle, it's art. You sew a scarf out of yarn. Guess what! It's art.
My art lacks just about everything. But apparently 148 people said "your art is worthy of a watch!"
You can get anywhere you want to be. You just need to keep going and not give up.

this....made me realize why i draw alot and why i want to improve. I just wanted to catch up to the amazing people i look up to and be on the same level as them. I just wanted to be like them. But i never get to post my drawings in my sketchbook on DA cuz of what people will think and that I would fail. Thanks for making this This made me feel better and inspired.

I've seen this before. I can't express how true this is. Only recently have I looked back and seen someone "carrying" my drawing.
thanks for this.

Wahh. This made me cry! I've been feeling stressed lately because I can't produce art that would make me satisfied. Everytime I draw, I ended up thinking that my work is ugly compared to other artists' art, but after reading this flash comic, I feel like I can do it. This is very inspirational. Thank you very much!

Yes :} No matter what, there's always someone, somewhere, out there that loves your art. No matter what the numbers are, what your count is, what the total digits you see are, even if no one is saying anything. There is always someone who is inspired from you. Just keep drawing, and you'll get there, and you'll get better and better and better. Even if you don't know it, you are improving!

I like this because in some artists' opinion
"That isn't the happy ending I want to pursue".
This comic is very realistic,because in the end,no matter how hard some artists try,they can never achieve that happy ending,because the world is a vile and unfair place.
And that's when you look back and think you're lucky to have all those people following you.
I personally don't think I would appreciate that happy ending in real life,but I do admit that I can relate very well with this,and that I teared up a bit.
The quality of this story is gold.

Sometimes we fail but it's normal, as long as we enjoy creating art ..
I't wont be any problem anymore.

it's so awesome, and while I read this I remembered of some things before I joined dA. I didn't used to draw in japanese style, I drew some wierd-lookin' animals and animal-like people, and I didn't love my style that much but my classmates loved it cuz it was a lot different then their style. and I tried to draw some things like my eldest sister seoc-w, but it didn't work and my style was changing, and 2 years ago I wanted to learn to draw people. as I drew them more often, I started to like to draw (I'm not that good at english grammar) and my style changed a lot in 2 years and I was so happy that people love my art ;v;

It was like that for me and my writing. I loved what I did but I worried I'd never be a JK Rowling or Tolkien. I worried that I wasn't as good as another author on another site. But then I suddenly found that there were people who felt the same....only about me.
This artwork is perfect for how I feel! Thank you so much!
