Description
Reached a point in my work that I feel I am good enough to start trying to help out others with theirs. Here is as basic tutorial that I could create without using a too larger canvas. I have used my OC 'Tail' as the subject.
Additional Notes:
- When applying the darker tones to the image be sure to follow the shape of the object you are shading, a too abstract shadow will ruin the shape of the object, but at the same time try to imagine the objects 3D properties, it will not project the same edges as the object casting it all the way through. The best example of this would be this characters right arm in step 3.
- This was a three step shading tutorial and creates a simple, evenly lit character. Adding additional tones will add to the strength of the shading and increase the level of detail but as the number of layers increases, the areas they cover should decrease. Other wise the imagine will become cluttered.
- If this image is too small in your window please feel free to save it to your computer and view it from there.
---------------------------------------
Please feel free to ask any further questions and I will try to answer to the best of my abilities, my next tutorial will cover the illusion of impressive art with very little skill.
Disclaimer:
The above image was created at 1am and then saved as a JPG so editing after creation is difficult. With this in mind and with my dyslexia please excuse any spelling, grammar or punctuation mistakes. Thank you.
