Today I felt like searching through my old portfolio from my high school days and found this piece. Sorry for the crappy folds, I had no other way of fixing its folds.If I recalled correctly, this was my very first attempt at drawing backgrounds. I was an enthusiast in industrial or geometric backgrounds since nature seems too simple...I take that back, both natural an geometric backgrounds do have their fair share of complex designs.

I love this, not for its quality but for its flaws. The reality is that nothing is perfect, there is always a texture ruffled or a rusty bit sticking out, perhaps a line wonky and then there are the smudgy bits. We all start somewhere and end up ............right here.

I've been looking for this kind of aesthetic in my work, I just could never find a genre to define it under.
I'm actually much better at drawing backgrounds and machines like this than people.
