bright swollen sirensdashing turgid tunes,
soft dirge that leads up
to a brass marching croon.
beeping, staccatto,
bracketing silence,
the blood pulse, a rhythm,
pulsating violence.
sforzando! sforzando!
quick piano, the heart--
a murmur, a stutter,
tight hands on white cart.
punched forth from dead doors,
crescendo sporadic:
mid-blink, mouth agape,
cue lost, automatic.
pianissimo, piano...
barren notes never finer.
warm rush from stale lips,
expired sound gone minor.
