Aside from the style just being ugly and looking like cheap flash animation, the ponies tend to look like Bratz dolls, which looked like prepubescent little sluts. That and the style looks like it could be done by any 10 year old girl who likes her female characters to look clueless. And quite frankly, they don't look a thing like ponies. So all in all, it's a very unprofessional, half-baked style of art. The only reason others like it is because these days that's the kind of art that's popular. I believe we have the internet to thank for that, along with everything else that's popular for how little effort it took.

Hmm. Well I can't argue against most of that, since it's personal opinion, but I have to argue against the cheap flash animation comment. Johnny Test is cheap flash animation, not this. A lot of the work goes into the movement of the characters in MLP, having the tails and manes shift according to how they're walking, fluidity of motion, stuff like that.
One last question, just one, then I'll drop this and not bother you anymore. Have you actually seen the show, or just basing your opinion of the designs off still images? I ask because you wouldn't believe the number of people who don't even try watching what they're complaining about, and that just seems an ignorant thing to do.

I certainly wouldn't call the animation in the show fluid or anything like that, the tails seem to bounce around more than flow or whatever and there could stand to be more frames. I also wouldn't accuse it of being the only show which I compare to cheap flash animation, like I said, that's what "we" like now.
