Update: Added an extra dialogue frame!I'm starting to think up a premise as to how Anne and the Plantars possibly ended up in the world of SMBZ- my idea so far is that Marcy, in her rush to get the portal open during the end of "True Colors", accidentally opened a portal to the Mushroom World instead of Earth (maybe she pressed the gems in the wrong order, or something?). Thus, Anne ends up getting sucked into the Mario world and is separated from the Plantars in the process... and she eventually gets caught up in the race for the Chaos Emeralds and the fight against Mecha Sonic (essentially, this would take the place of Season 3A).
As for this photo, this is a "what-if" where Anne managed to drag Marcy through the portal with her, even after she was stabbed (King Andrias still has the Music Box, though). In such a case, Marcy would probably spend a good bit of time recovering, so she wouldn't join Anne and Team Mario in the Emerald hunt until way later...
