I was happy when he died. He was an idiot, he wasn't even supposed to kill Zane when they could still get information from him.

Well, I dont really agree with you, but I respect your view on it ^^ I think he did it out of fear. Fear that Zane would find another way to hurt the people he cared about again. He had already killed his family once, if given the chance, he might kill Aphmau or even baby Lilith. Everyone does stupid things sometimes, and fear often brings that out in people. A panic. The door would have been opened eventually, and in doing so it would be hard to predict how that would go down. In this instance, he could predict who got hurt and when. Knowing he wouldnt survive, since his body couldnt handle the power, he took them both down instead of only himself.
