I've been in a bit of a folk ballad kick, so I decided to do some illustrations of my favorite folk ballad Tam Lin. Then I thought, "Hm.... what if.... they were gay?" And yeah.I decided to go with the AnaΓ―s Mitchell version, because I didn't want to deal with drawing horses and the Faerie Queen and all that. I also like the more simple love story without the whole, "You gotta rescue me before I'm sent to hell" plot. (Even though I ADORE that whole thing too!)
I just like the softness of Mitchell's version and it fitted the image I had in my head.
