Well, more or less. I used a brush to help me do the clouds. But asides from that had to work them a bit

Hmmm. When I think of how I learned to draw wolves, was basically using reference from photographs and other artists work. Specially sketches, since with those you can see the drawing only in lines. Also, you could look for tutorials here in DA. You could write on the search tool "wolf tutorial" or something different and you'll find something.
I can't really suggest you books, because I can't think of any right now for drawing. The books I use are more specific for painting technics and other specific areas.
