Description Completed architecture study; this took me about 6 hours. The assignment was to do a detailed architecture drawing, emphasis on correct perspective, using lines only, building of our choice. 18 x 24 drawing paper, right out to the edges.

This happens to be the back of the house I'm currently living in, built by my grandfather's brother sometime around 1940. The viewpoint is from inside the workshop in the back yard, where I started drawing until the ants drove me indoors. Finished up with some photos as reference.

Our instructor can unerringly detect when we've drawn pictures from photos instead of actually looking at the subject; in this particular instance I can readily see why. My camera seriously distorted the paper I drew on - all the verticals are actually parallel, drawn with a ruler. So the uprights on either side of the doorframe are not really skewed, but the camera makes them bow towards each other.
