Description This is a comic I was going to put in 'Will's Guide to Fairyland' when I finally get around to doing it, but I thought it was only 2 panels.. so I might not (and of course if I do, it won't be this lazy thing here.. so lazy.. so much cheating)

I've been meaning to do this for ages and I recently got asked 'So how come Tyrian is a vampire fairy?'  Well, it's pretty simple.  His great grandmother (I may need another great) who was a (human) vampire married his great grandfather who was King Arawn of the Dark Realm.  Since the children of vampires are always vampires... well, the Dark royal line became vampires.  Not that fairies care terribly much, since some of them drink blood and eat people anyway.

I wrote a journal about this stuff:
Vampires and fairies, blood and sex.So thanks to :iconAnimeHalf-Breed:'s ask question, I decided to actually get my butt in gear regarding my stance on werewolves.  I don't know much about them from a folklore point of view, and as I'm sure we all know movies and what everyone knows tend to be filthy liars, I need to do some research.  I've been amazingly uninterested in them, because it seems like everyone always pits vampires and werewolves against each other and I don't know enough about them to know if there's a folklore basis or not, so I've just ignored that particular story conflict.  But now I've been prompted to take a stance on the species (if indeed it will be a species at all and not just a curse of some kind) so I figure I'll get on with it.
Yeah I know, that isn't what the journal title says at all.  Well, I started a book I got recently, 'Encyclopedia of the Undead' which has both folklore and actual references in it (like actual recorded instances of what people believed to be vampires

Because I don't mention it very much, in case anyone is confused, Fairyland is ruled by 3 royal families that consider themselves one family.

Cordelia here is the youngest daughter of Contessa von Stollenheim (Contessa had 3 children, the other two were boys and are not shown)

Cordelia went to study magic in Fairyland so she could become a witch like her mother (although her mother progressed to sorceress).  That's where they met.

Love is very simple in fairy tales.  There are countless stories where some king or prince comes across a maiden in a forest (also Disney, now that I think about it) and goes 'Yep, I'm marrying you'.

Seriously it happens A LOT.

So that is basically why Tyrian is both a fairy and a vampire.

Oh and.. in case you need more info...  it's fairly common for fairies to marry outside their species.  Magic makes for flexible genes, which is just as well, because the gene pool in Fairyland is pretty shallow as far as actual fairies go.

Oh and a final note.  Of course Arawn says 'oh a human'.  Because Cordelia is a human as well as a vampire.  It's just that being humans, we tend to forget this.
