First in an in-progress series I'm working on for Llewellyn's 2011 Astrological Calendar.The crab, water, nurturing, the reflective surface of water, focus on the family, protective, sensitive.

The flow of the water with the painting is very well-done, and the mother in the middle of it all, looking tranquil, holding her child to her is very serene. Beautiful work!

I like how you showed what looks like souls being formed in the light balls and carried away by the storks. The zodiac Cancer in astrology is seen as the spiritual gateway or entryway for new souls upon entering this terrestrial life.

Beautiful work as always...I was especially tickled at the glass net-floats the gulls carry as lanterns...just perfect.
For those who complain that crabs aren't pretty...get a good look at the claws of a blue crab sometime, before it's cooked...gorgeous shades of pure blue and crisp white, and a true work of art.

since i buy this calender religiously since 2006, i guess i'll b seeing these in the next 2 years. i can't believe i'm getting a sneak peek at what it will look like now. this looks amazing, and the sketches look wonderful too. i can't wait to see these on the wall in my bedroom in 2011!
