Description

The High School girls were allowed to bare their midriffs to expose their naval piercings if they so desired. They wear miniskirts and vests in lieu of pinafores.

Early on, Lupe met a fellow teen and 11th grader Morgan. At first sight, an uneasy tension began to fester. It was if the school was not big enough for two queens. There can only be ONE! Naturally, they spoke nothing of the silent rivalry. As they were introduced, it was revealed to Lupe that Morgan was their star gymnast. In fact, she won the Texas State Championship in balance beam. It was she that put the academy on the map… a mere school of unwanted children now owns the 1981 championship. Morgan was their pride and joy. Conversely, it was announced that Lupe was the one who had evacuated over 400 people from a 747 wreck just recently, and had her picture on the news. She had family… until recently, and her own car and a driver’s license. Lupe seemed to have everything.

It would seem that each one made the other feel small and insignificant. But as expected, they exchanged quick fake smiles, but said nothing.
