The first major tip to creating original and exciting monsters is to abandon all rules. Monsters are the epitome of imagination. The only rules I follow with monsters are physical triffles like feasible working joints and if their makeup works well for the environment I set them in.
Create as wildly as you can when you create monsters, basically.

And he's still looking fine I love the pose, and the colors. I wouldn't have ever thought of green and that aqua shade going together so smoothly, but they look good. Especially with the blood
