Description
catch the moon with hook star-threadedpull it down by nooks embedded
dust its flanks and turn it over
dark spots hide with wreaths of clover
tie it to your fishing-boat
dragged along through castle-moat
shining in the windowed towers
parade beneath with unpaid dowers
circle twice, soft-brushed by reed
enrapture sky, plant blushing seed
on the mudbank linger, leap
let the stones in moonlight steep
to home again old moon will pull
bumping past stones on castle-town road
full in its curve it strains to the sky
leaving your palm and keeping your eye.
to home again your feet shall tread
skysoft footprints in your stead
sleeping safe, in silvered bed
below the moon, the moon overhead.
