Dr. Kyle narrowed his eyes as he saw Lavender be pulled into a small room down the hall, followed by one of their upper management team. A meeting was not scheduled, which made conspiracies swirl in his mind.

They had been neck-and-neck in trying to get the Department Head of Cryptozoology Research and Containment position, and he had a bad feeling about this secret little meeting. He knew that they upper management looked down their noses at him now that he was part chicken, of course they were going to give her the position even though he was clearly the better option.

He snuck up to the partially opened doorway and overheard the conversation than proved his suspicions correct. Anger and resentment boiled within him. He would take care of this, he had worked twice as hard as she ever had, and he deserved the respect and prestige awarded to department heads! Not her!
