How it actually went, but they couldn't market it.
Step one: Get fed up with being a success and downgrade yourself to being some high school social outcast.
Step two: Get bullied for dressing in that ridiculous outfit.
Step three: Find out she can't be popular on account of how different she is.
Step four: Find somewhere to live, which she never does.
Step five: End up in the streets as a hobo.
Step six: 30 moons later return to Equestria and beg for mercy, receive leniency.
Step seven: Spend 15 years in Canterlot Dungeon.
What? Twilight wouldn't have a crush on an alien, nor would Sunset Shimmer; Sunset Shimmer (the way her character was shown) wouldn't go to high school for any reason what-so-ever; Twilight is between the ages 18-23, too old for high school, and from the timing in the past I think Sunset Shimmer is older than Twilight; Snips and Snails may be freaks, but they aren't evil.
Equestria Girls was the worst thing since Star Wars: Holiday Special.
