So I'm thinking he's a vigilante who appears during lunar eclipses and basically kills people he deems to be bad?

history: (he doesn't have a name yet so I'm gonna refer to him as BJ)
Thousands of years ago, he and his partner (genderless) lived with other canines in the Sahara desert. They had three pups born in one litter. The first was sickly, and died of disease. The second pup was physically strong, but lacking in sorcery. The third pup was a gifted sorcerer, but physically weak. On day before their 15th (human years. probably the equivalent of like, 29 yrs? idk lolrip) birthday, BJ and his partner had to travel to South for [a really great reason here]. While they were gone, a group of violent lions murdered their pups (as well as some other families' pups in the city) for [some evil reason probably for personal gain but I want them to be layered characters so I'm thinking that they went through some tragic event where they lost part of their family or whatever and the only way to fix it is to kill other pups]. BJ and his partner returned to a grieving town. They traveled to other towns and turns out the lions are recent murderers. they tracked them down and rip they killed the lions in revenge annnd now:
BJ: appears during lunar eclipses and vigilanties around
partner: appears during solar eclipses and works to heal/protect the sick
so yeh . right b4 the lions died they got cursed to only exist during eclipses :/ rip forever separated
