if you went as far as adding very cool fx to the strip, you should have taken the chance to remove the stand from the pics as well...

there's a cheap solution though: Chroma key AKA: Blue/Green Screen technique, just put the figure you want to make "fly" at the front of a big sheet of blue/green carboard and take the pic (making sure the lighting conditions are the same as the full scene) then remove the green/blue background fron the pic (and the stand in the process) and add the resulting pic to the final scene, voila!
(you can figure it out about the small details)
