Description

While overall percent of seeded worlds had grown, the planets with their own, independently appeared life still could be found. On one of them lived animals which were sponge-like.

Plants of this world evolved in presence of two stars, one Sun-like and another red dwarf. Planet has an 8-shaped orbit between them, so during one part of years the sky looks quite normal save for presence of another reddish source of light and some hours in the evening, which may be called summer, and during another part of year sky is red or orange, which depends on presence of Sun-like star. There is also a period when planet is located between both, when on one side there is dim red light, and on another dim yellow. Planet has a moon which is big enough to cause tides.

Because of two stars, plants here heavily depend on time of the year. During summer there are chlorophyll plants, which start go dormant during transitional period and usually seed during end of summer. The time when planet starts orbiting red dwarf may be called winter, and during this time black plants rise from their seeds or roots.

The sponge-like animals of this planet were more effective than fully-multicellular life in such conditions that they started their own diversification. All their cells would eventually speciate, and some would form different new parts of animals. These ‘modules’ could easily be tore off, but those cells that would survive will give rise to a new animal.

Pictured two wheel-like animals, that recently evolved a new form of locomotion. Structure of their bodies allows them to both walk on their two legs, and also to roll if threatened. One of them noticed possible danger.
