Built in 2324 and comissioned in as a new ship in 2327, the Exodeus Class is a big ship to bypass it's inferior precusor.
The Exodeus Class Heavy Battleships were the successors of the Excelsior Class Battleships, and as well improved most of it's parts in it's costruction, the biggest new part on the class was the saucer built specifically for this ship, the saucer would be used on other ships as time went forward.
The Exodeus Class Heavy Battleships made the Imperial fleet more powerful as they carried more phaser turrets than the Excelsior Class Battleships, and were able to manuvoure more quickly when being tailed by the enemy. A total of 85 Exodeus Class Heavy Battleships were built including the new ISS Excelsior, NCC-2000-A, she was commissioned in 2328.
The Exodeus Class had a magnitude more power than the Excelsior, and as such it's shields held for much longer when used a sustain barrage, the ISS Insidious, NCC-20810 one of the other Excellious Classes was able to overwelm two Klingon Ka'ingas with ease, and destroyed them.
But admist during the 2340s, the Klingons and the Cardassians were starting an alliance, the Empire were starting to see that they were going to be easily overwelmed with the mass of Klingon and Cardassian ships. So in 2344, the Exodeus Class came in for varying refits to battle against the Klingons and Cardassians.
