Description I sprited this on a foreign laptop (which of course, requires adaptation, which I'm less likely to get used to), so it's below-average quality. XD

Anyway, from two sources, one being a note on dA, and the other being the mention of the word 'Mandrake' on TST's IRC, I sketched out this idea of a fakemon; it was supposed to be a dragon, but it turned out similar to a dinosaur. O.o

Onto the description!

Physical Appearance: Dranmake is a very large reptilian pokemon revived from a fossil of the Mesozoic Era. It stands at almost eight feet tall and spans twenty feet from head to tail. Its body is covered in desaturated green scales, but parts where plants grow from underneath the scales, such as the moss on its legs and the leaves on its neck. On its body are round, reddish fruits which resemble Leppa berries, though when consumed, they induce sleep, rather than restore energy.
Dranmake's head is covered in a large, sturdy tetragram; its main horn is speckled with moss, the same kind that surrounds its legs. The side horns are bare. Inside its mouth are layers of flat teeth that indicate herbivorousness. It has a set of red eyes on the side of its head; its diet requires the pokemon to have as much peripheral vision as possible to scan for predators or more sustenance.

Habitat and Diet: Due to having only survived in the ancient past, it is hard to deduce what sort of environment Dranmake originally lived in. The fossils which modern Dranmakes are reconstructed from are usually found abound coal. Coal is found when plant matter is compressed over time into the alkane fuel people use today. Thus, in ancient times, Dranmake is thought to have lived in very profusely floral environments. The revived Dranmakes of today both consume plants and photosynthesize, though this seems like a primitive process that since photosynthesis is endergonic, much energy is stored and unused while little is kept for actual work. In the prehistoric period, though, it is theorized that there was a higher concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere, allowing far greater amounts of respiration and subsequent photosynthesis.

Behavior: Scientists have performed experiments on Dranmakes both with a modern concentration of atmospheric air and a hypothesized concentration of air in pre-Cenozoic Era times. The Dranmakes that were placed in the modern environment survived, but acted slowly and unresponsively to tests. A sample of the Dranmakes' chloroplasts revealed little glucose synthesis, and looking at their primitive mitochondria noted that there were too many mitochondria for the relatively small amount of oxygen. Those Dranmakes placed in a highly oxygenated environment grew larger than the others, produced more fruit, and appeared more cognizant. However, they still motioned slowly, creating the theory that Dranmakes intentionally store the most of its energy and only leave a minute amount--the same amount, no matter how much energy it intakes, to preform its normal functions.
However, due to the sparsity of these fossil pokemon and immense difficulty to retain one on a trainer's team, Dranmake's physical abilities are hard to define. Despite their overall grass-type affinity, they do not seem bothered by intense heat or water saturation; the heat resistance might be explained as an adaptation to allow water dehydrogenation and the water resistance might be to collect as much water for dehydrogenating, but this plays against the previous experiments where Dranmakes were tested on how much energy they consumed and stored, which does not prove the need for such immense collection of water. Contrariwise, Dranmakes have an immense disapprobation for cold temperatures; this stimulates their bodies to provide more energy from its stores, but, as one test showed, a Dranmake's body cannot keep generating the heat necessary and fell quickly into hypothermia. A Dranmake had a weakness to cold almost twice of those compared to other grass types. These notices together delegated the Dranmake species as having some draconian qualities.
