Description 02/06/2017 mini-update: This is late, sorry! In this new mini-update, I've changed up Prussia and Germany's character busts, updated the CGI accordingly, and changed the format of Spain's journal entries. Those words are no longer scrolling past at the speed of sound, thank goodness. I've also changed the windowskin, as I had feedback from players that the old one made it hard to read the text. Again, there are no new story updates-- this is mainly just a graphical improvement update. Currently I'm working on expanding the storyline and adding a few bonus events here and there. 23/10/2016 mini-update: I've redone the character busts for Spain and added in all the new features I've mentioned before, including the aforementioned mobile phone system. Story-wise there's nothing new; this is just a minor technical update so you can finally try out Spain's phone for yourself. (Try calling someone at weird times, like, I don't know, the chase scene? I really do think of everything.)
I'm currently redoing some of the CGIs and other character busts because I'm changing the MMD models I'm using-- I'm going to switch my UniDX Prussia and Hana Germany models for Mukimuki No Hito's Prussia and Germany, which means I'll have to replace every single one of their busts and the CGIs they appear in. Sigh. This will take a while.
As usual, tell me if any bugs or typos appear! I'll fix them as soon as possible.
I really need to sleep right now orz

Yay! I kept my release date promise!... To like half of the Earth. Thank you and curse you, timezones.

About three months after the initial release, I present to you... PROJECT ESPANYA'S DEMO UPDATE! Or as I occasionally call it, Project Espanya version 0.6. I literally crammed developing over 60% of the update into 48 hours worth of time so I apologise if it seems rather lacklustre or buggy compared to the original content.

For the newcomers, here's a brief summary on the game:

Spain has lost his memory.

Thousands of years, gone like the wind. His only clear memory is of the day he woke up in a hospital, where according to one of the doctors he has laid in a coma for three days after being discovered bleeding nearly to death in a nearby forest. He doesn't remember anything about his life, family or past; frankly, the only other things he can barely remember are his own name and identity; that he supposedly personifies that block of land at the southwestern end of Europe.

Now, he is on a personal mission. He wants to recover his memory, rebuild his life and find out what the hell he was doing 'dying' in a forest. And figure out who that kid with the weird hair curl, who keeps appearing in his dreams, really is. However, he begins to doubt his quest when he finds the many shadows and secrets in his past... And he must be careful. The culprit behind his amnesia is somewhere out there, attempting to find a way to capture him again. Who or what their intentions are Spain doesn't know, but he has to avoid them or risk disappearing for good...

Now I really don't know what genre to make of this. Right now it seems somewhat dark but later on it's going to get a little... science fiction-y, for lack of a better term. Anyway, the playthrough is now pegged at around 30-40 minutes-- a definite increase from the initial release. It's only a rough estimate; I personally beta-tested the whole thing so of course I'd speed-run through the game while testing it.

A few changes I've made to Espanya:

Certain inventory items are now viewable! The Post-It and Old Photograph can be examined in-game in Spain's Backpack. (One more Dora joke and I swear--) For your own sake, mis amigos... check them. They're both very important.

The kitchen is now open! But only after a certain plot point. There's not much in there, anyway.

And now, a few important tips on how to get through this demo:

Literally touch EVERYTHING. Some of the objects lying around may seem unimportant but are essential to the story.

Also, this is one of those games where I'd recommend you touch everything at least twice, as some item descriptions actually CHANGE as you progress.

Watch what you say and do. Your actions may affect what others do and tell you later on. From this update onwards, your choices WILL begin to affect the plot. One particular choice actually changes what you have to do at a later point of the game COMPLETELY.

THIS GAME HAS MULTIPLE ENDINGS! There are three of them: the True Realist, True Idealist and Neutral endings. Choosing a certain type of choice consistently is the only way to get to the two 'True Path' endings. The game will know if you're on one of the Paths; if you're on either a True Realist or True Idealist path, one of the choices in this update will become automatic, i.e. you don't get a choice for that one. However, bear in mind that this is just a demo; you won't be able to see the endings yet.

Read through all dialogue boxes carefully; try not to skip through them. Many details crucial to game progression are concealed within the dialogue. Also, skipping through dialogue too quickly may end up bugging the game out.

The Journals and Memories are important for keeping track of story progression, especially the Journals-- they make records of what has happened and what you might be doing later on. Compared to the first release, you'll be getting a few more of both in this update so check them both often!

THERE IS A CHASE SCENE IN THIS UPDATE. To avoid being caught by the [SPOILERS], take advantage of the objects around you to block them. A sofa, the stairs, that random-ass teddy bear, anything!

If you encounter any bugs or get stuck at a certain point, note me (to avoid spoilers) and I'll try to help you out!

Oh, right! For returning players, if you saved your game at the end when the game prompted you to, that one isn't going to work... for what reason, I still don't know. If that happens to you, note me what you chose to do when you met France and Prussia as well as what you chose to talk to Germany about. I'll send you a save file with those exact choices made so you don't have to replay the whole thing... only that part at the end of the first release with the email.

And here's what you came for: The DOWNLOAD LINK!
Take note: this game does not come with the RunTimePackage; you'll need to download that too if you don't already have it installed.

Uh... there's actually two different ways the chase scene could go. (And by 'chase scene', I mean that one with the [SPOILERS].) Did it ask you to find a safe room or Spain's battle axe? For the first scenario, just keep going in and out of rooms until the guy stops chasing you. Yeah, you can run OUT of the room for this one. It's a multi-room chase. For the second one, well... what it says on the can. I got caught by him many times myself while I was beta-testing XD So of course I had to figure out some sure-fire way to get past him.

I did mention using objects in the rooms to block the guy... That's the only tip I can offer you in the comments. Note me ( www.deviantart.com/notificatio… ) if you still can't get past it!

Actually I managed to get away. Great game so far! And would these guys happen to have been apart of China's search for immortality? Cause the boss said that Spain was alot easier to handle then Yao and the first thing pop into my mind was China's Search for immortality. Just curious.

Yep, that's actually the entire story behind why all this is going on! I'm a Chinese person so if you don't mind, allow me to give you a brief history on our Chinese obsession with immortality~!

Some 2000 years ago, the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, wanted to be able to rule China forever. (Because he's the FIRST emperor, of course he wanted to stay that way for eternity.) So, he got a bunch of alchemists together to research on an elixir of life; some records even state that he sent out armies to search for actual, living immortals. He'd try ANYTHING to live forever-- case in point, one guy claimed mercury to be the elixir of life. He took it. He died of mercury poisoning. (Or something some other guy claimed was an elixir of life. I don't know, that guy took a lot of weird 'elixirs'. Heck, gunpowder was invented BECAUSE of this.) But the main point is that he sent armies out to look for actual immortals.

And that's where our Hetalia nations come in! They're immortal, right? I rest my case. I'd have to go on an even more long-winded story to explain how they got into Europe and ended up with Spain, but the short version is that they started IN China. All because some emperor wanted to live for eternity.

Nice going, Qin Shi Huang. You gave a 21st-Century kid one weird excuse to make a game.

Oh, i'm a chinese person too by the way.

So basically when Qin Shi Huang sent out his armies to search for immortal people they found China?

Yeah nice going Qin Shi Huang.

Ah yes happy Spain has fixed my heart attack. but seriously the game is coming along really well. I'm kinda wondering if you are actually gonna have a country get caught by the bad guys, also wondering if the immorality aspect of the countries are going to be explained, but I guess i'm just gonna have to keep playing!

(and btw the heart attack was for the chase scene since I had no clue where to go, oh and the part with England XD)

Shh! You're digging a little too far into my plans! I'll eventually explain how the countries' immortality ties into all this, though it's going to be a while. And since I did mention a while ago that there could be a sequel, I think you can guess what might happen in the end. What could possibly happen in an amnesiac-nation-who-was-kidnapped-for-whatever-reason storyline for it to get a sequel? I leave you to figure that out.

And yeah... those parts were meant to do that. Surprise you all, I mean. Did you know I love cliffhangers, plot twists and suspense? Just a warning, in case the next update ends up like this one.

Uuuum, I did a thing while exploring after the call with Germany. I ran into the top corner of the livingroom and teleported to a fancy room with Italy in it. Just thought I'd let you know because once I did that I couldn't do anything.
