Description
Traditional drawing of Quick Silver. Now there's only one Avenger left, then my Age of Ultron series is complete...I started this drawing when my hand was hurting pretty bad so I did the marker base layer with my other hand. That took much time and was pretty frustrating. At least I didn't mess it up completely.
Reference was a promo picture (poster) of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver / Pietro Maximoff from the movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).
Ursus sketch pad DIN A4 190g/mΒ²; Faber-Castell Polychromos artists' colour pencils, Copic Ciao marker, uni-ball Signo pigment ink um-153 white; time: 10 hours

I think you did an awesome job with this oneΒ Β
The roughness actually makes him look blurry like he's running at supersonic speedsΒ
And his hair looks cool with its grayish-white coloringΒ Β
The blue background looks awesome too!! It's like a blue flame created by the friction he creates running so fast
Nice Job!!Β Β

A short comment then
I love it We all agree that your drawings are perfect, so I don't know what else about it I could add
I'd just add subjectively: so much blue! And so beautiful shade of blue
It makes me happy

Hahaha...
Thank you! Well, it could've been better. My scanner killed some shades of blue by the way. It just doesn't like to scan turquoise (it always turns into normal blue). So on paper you can see a few more shades.

Is it anyhow connected with non-photo blue? (I'm still not sure what it is, but I've heard about it when it concerns scanning and using traditional art on computer).
I'm sure it's even more brilliant on paper (hard to imagine, but on paper it's... I don't know how to call it more material and real and literal somehow
Oh, now I'm sure I'll be dreaming of your Quick Silver drawing
I just saw so clear image of it that I'm sure
).
I don't want to make any spoilers, I didn't have a chance to see AoU yet, but I accidentally got that spoiler (I don't mind, as you know ). Just read your message again

I haven't heard about non-photo blue yet, but I read that it's a shade of blue that just "disappears" when you scan it. My stupid turquoise just turns into blue. Scanners always change the colours... I hate it.
Thanks again! Lol!
Wait what? Did I spoil something...???

I don't have a scanner, so there's no point even in trying to compare what I post with original colours and shades, but on my level it doesn't really matter
I "borrowed" few times a scanner, but colours were changed too, at least a little.
Nooo! The way you wrote made me think about a spoiler I accidentally saw about AoU lately
Don't worry!

I love you work, always fantastic. I'd like to know, do you have any tips for someone who is new to blending markers and colored pencils? Like I'm really nervous when I combine the two and don't know if there's a certain method too it.

Thank you!
Well, I'm not sure if there's "the method", because I just tried it last year for the first time and with every drawings it's getting better, but I think I can give you a few hints. Make a colour chart for your markers, then it's easier to pick the colours for the base layers. Don't start too dark. It's possible to bright up the marker layer with a bright colored pencil, but if it's still too dark you can't go back. Try to find a good paper for markers and colored pencil (not too thin and not so grainy)! I hope this helps a bit! Now just give it a try! It's fun!

So with the layers, do you start with markers, then pencil, then marker again? I mean, that's the part I have trouble with.

Ah ok. You haven't seen my tutorials yet! Here is one (I tried to explain everything step by step in the description): Traditional (mixed media) tutorial
Pencil -> eraser -> marker (and sometimes also black multiliner) -> many colored pencil layers to blend everything -> white gel pen
